Welcome! The contributors are a rare tye of person, extremely generous and friendly. It's great to welcome you to The Guerrilla CG Project, and brilliant to have everyone on board.

1. Post About Yourself
Have a look through the existing posts then please post a bit of info about yourself in The New Contributor Introductions (started by Dipingo)thread. I'll slowly add everyone to The Team thread too. Provide links to your existing work where possible. This way everyone will get to know eachother a little.

Also please tell us what you're interested in creating, we are focusing on creating Fundamental Videos so choose a topic ie. Explaining FK and IK. If you are not sure yet that's fine. If you are here to post news or help out with the backend of the site etc, just say that instead.

2. Choose a Fundamental Video Topic (if this is what you want to do)
If you are not sure, the next post (below) will talk a bit about this.

3. Create A New Video Script Thread

Once you have chosen a topic, I've found it best to write a script of the tutorial. This helps me brainstorm a little before I get stuck into 3d. I've learnt this the hard way, I'd finish my 3d video content and then realise I'd left something obvious out! It was a real pain. A script will also allow feedback from everyone, this makes the idea even stronger, and you'll look better when the vid is released!

Create a new thread, call it

VIDEO SCRIPT: Your Video Title

example

VIDEO SCRIPT: IK and FK Explained

Now post your script in there.

4. Download The Video Pack and Video Resources
In the WIP menu section you will see a fundamental Video Style guide you must email me andrewsilke@guerrillacg.org for the pack. Important! Read through that document, for example we are working at 25fps 800x600, this will work with the existing titles. Here you will find things like music and titles and other assets like .objs and maya files of the work I've done so far. Also check out "How I've made the tutorials so far" under the WIP menu, there's a couple of screen capture vids wher I go over some of my maya and editing of the videos so far.

5. Start Creating Your Video
When you have something to show, we'd love to see it, we can upload a file in QT or .flv format so everyone can see it in the WIP section.

6. Finish your Video
Add sound effects and edit your video with the Guerrilla titles and pack. Make a low res version so we can have a look at it. There will be a certain quality level to meet, but I don't believe anyone will have problems, this will probably a sort of consensus between the other contributors. I don't think anyone will have problems.

Output the sequence and send or ftp it to me, I can give you ftp details, we will be discusing format options and ways of moving large files around. Greg gave me a high quality .jpg sequence and a .wav file.

7. Fill out your presenter page
Let me know what you want on your Presenter Page.

Done!

Any questions post em on the forums.

WHAT FUNDAMENTAL VIDEO SHOULD I MAKE? 1 Year, 9 Months ago
For most of us teaching the basics seems hardly exciting, but everyone has to learn at some stage, so if we focus on this stuff I believe we could make a real contribution to the world of CG. Most of these basic concepts when understood properly can become quite exciting anyway.

If you'd like to teach an advanced topic that's great too, say for exapmle a video on Muscle Dynamics would probably become one of the more popular videos. But I'd like to make this site understandable for the absolute beginner, they are our biggest audience.

Here's a list of topics that might be appropriate, if you are unsure, pick one. If you can make a modelling video that's even better becasue I'd like to focus and finish as much of that section as possible. There's a lot here, but don't worry we should cover what we can. There's no rush. Maybe pick a topic that people would find most frustrating. Simple ones are good because they'll take less time to create.

Although the topics appear simple, many of them can do complicated things, think of how the polygon video ends up creating a complicated face. This is the sort of thing we're after.

Titles are in no particular order.

I'll take digital sculpting, displacement normal and bump maps for starters if no one objects?

Hi to every one. My name is Jesus Bacca.
I will reviewing the subjects and then I will post to Andrew the scripts for my first tutorial by next week.
I think I will undertake a hole project from scratch and split it in several videos, so the students will follow trough and become more familiar of what a process demands.
I want to thank you guys specially to Andrew who welcome me into this exiting and nobel project.
Until next week then.

Jesus.
